For Veterinary Practices

We are contacting you to ask for your help and support of our charity, “Gulliver’s Run”. We founded “Gulliver’s Run” in 2013 as a means of helping in the fight against canine cancer. To do that we hold a 5k Trail Run for dogs and their human companions in November at Gifford Pinchot State Park.  

Again this year we are presenting “Gulliver’s Challenge” to veterinary practices in the Central Pennsylvania Area. We are inviting each practice to consider a making a team donation to “Gulliver’s Run”.  The practice that makes the largest donation will be awarded the “Gulliver’s Challenge Trophy” to display in their waiting area. The trophy is passed on yearly to the practice that makes the largest contribution.  Each year’s winning practice gets their name added to the trophy. Displaying the trophy would also be a way to raise awareness of canine cancer.

We are also asking each veterinary office to complete the Canine Cancer Questionnaire (below) and submit it so we may compile a referral list.  Part of the mission of “Gulliver’s Run” is to help educate people about the options for dealing with this terrible disease when it impacts their lives and the well being of their canine friends. Our ongoing plan is to serve as a clearinghouse for canine cancer information and referral in the central PA area. We will be adding a resource list to our website in the future.

Our experience with canine cancer began in October of 2011 when our Vizsla, Gulliver was diagnosed with canine lymphoma. Gulliver was my running companion for 9 years. He raced against canine cancer for the last 13 months of his life. Gulliver participated in 2 clinical trials at the Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, as well as several rescue protocols. Throughout his treatment he continued to run daily. Gulliver ran a 5k race the week before he crossed the last finish line. We truly know and understand the heartbreak and pain that a diagnosis of canine cancer brings to a family and a beloved companion. “Gulliver’s Run” is our mission and our vision. We are committed to carrying on Gulliver’s fight against canine cancer.

Please consider joining us by participating in “Gulliver’s Challenge” through a donation from your practice, or by encouraging your staff to join us individually on November 3, 2024 for the 12th Annual “Gulliver’s Run”.
